Storage Canning Town Modern Slavery Statement
This Modern Slavery Statement sets out the steps Storage Canning Town has taken, and continues to take, to ensure that modern slavery and human trafficking are not taking place within our business operations or supply chains. Storage Canning Town is committed to acting with integrity and transparency in all business dealings and relationships, and to putting effective systems and controls in place to safeguard against any form of modern slavery.
Modern slavery encompasses slavery, servitude, human trafficking and forced labour. We recognise that these abuses can arise in any sector or country and we are vigilant in assessing and managing the risk within our organisation and our supply chains. Our aim is to foster a culture where ethical conduct is expected, supported and actively monitored.
Zero-Tolerance Policy on Modern Slavery
Storage Canning Town operates a strict zero-tolerance policy towards modern slavery in all its forms. We do not tolerate any practices that are inconsistent with fundamental human rights, including forced, bonded or involuntary labour, child labour or human trafficking. This applies to our own activities, to all parties who represent us, and to all organisations with whom we conduct business.
All employees, contractors and suppliers are expected to comply with this policy as a condition of working with Storage Canning Town. Any breach of this policy by an employee may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment. Any breach by a supplier or business partner may result in suspension or termination of the business relationship.
Supply Chain Standards and Supplier Audits
Our supply chain includes providers of storage equipment, property maintenance, facilities management, utilities, cleaning, security and professional services. We are committed to working only with suppliers who share our values and who can demonstrate respect for human rights and fair working conditions.
We seek to embed modern slavery considerations into our procurement and supplier management processes. Where appropriate, supplier contracts and terms of business include requirements relating to compliance with modern slavery legislation and the prohibition of forced, child or trafficked labour.
Storage Canning Town undertakes proportionate supplier audits and assessments to evaluate compliance with our standards. These may include requests for documentary evidence, on-site visits, or structured questionnaires covering labour practices, recruitment, worker welfare and grievance mechanisms. Where potential concerns are identified, we engage with the supplier to agree corrective actions and timescales. If satisfactory improvements are not achieved, we reserve the right to review or end the relationship.
Training, Awareness and Reporting Channels
We are committed to raising awareness of modern slavery risks among our employees and key contractors. Relevant staff receive guidance on recognising indicators of modern slavery, particularly in roles connected to procurement, facilities management and supplier oversight. Induction and periodic training emphasise our zero-tolerance stance and the responsibility of individuals to speak up about concerns.
Storage Canning Town encourages open, honest and confidential reporting of any suspicion of modern slavery, whether relating to our own operations, our suppliers or any third party encountered through our business. Concerns can be reported through established internal reporting channels, including line managers and senior management. We also maintain a whistleblowing framework that allows individuals to raise issues in good faith without fear of retaliation or detrimental treatment.
All reports of suspected modern slavery are taken seriously, investigated promptly and, where appropriate, escalated to senior leadership. We will cooperate with law enforcement or relevant authorities where there is a reasonable belief that criminal activity may have occurred.
Continuous Improvement and Annual Review
We recognise that combating modern slavery is an ongoing responsibility and that our approach must evolve in response to emerging risks, best practice guidance and changes in our operations and supply chains. Storage Canning Town is committed to continuous improvement in this area.
This Modern Slavery Statement, along with our related policies and procedures, is reviewed at least annually by senior management. The review considers the effectiveness of our measures, the outcomes of supplier audits and investigations, training feedback and any incidents or concerns raised during the year. Where necessary, we update our processes, strengthen contractual requirements, enhance due diligence or introduce additional training to address identified gaps.
This statement has been approved by the leadership of Storage Canning Town and represents our ongoing commitment to preventing modern slavery and human trafficking in our business and supply chains.
